MULTI LAYERED DASHBOARD - CHRISTINE PENAFLOR
Hello Friends! It's Christine Penaflor here to welcome you to today's blog post! I recently had the pleasure of creating with some of the clear papers from Teresa Collins Studio when I first received them, and I wanted to create another project for my planner again. These clear papers are SO MUCH FUN to use with of all the layering possibilities!
I decided to create a multi-layered dashboard that I added to my planner which Teresa designed in collaboration with the Happy Planner. I thoroughy enjoyed creating each layer, and with a variety of prints in different colorways, you'll begin to see why I love creating with them so much!
For this project, I used a piece of black striped clear paper and a piece of the clear paper (with no patterns) for the pages. Each of the clear paper packs include eight patterned clear papers and four clear sheets for a total of 12 in the package.
However, the first layer is simply a floral image that I fussy cut from one of the journaling cards in the Reflections Paper Collection. I punched the left side of the flower so that it could be inserted directly into the planner on its own. Notice that this flower gives you only a little peek at what's coming next on the page beneath it.
When the flower is flipped to the left side of the planner, this is the view of the first clear page in the planner:
You may not be able to tell, but it's actually made with a half page of the clear paper that was left over from a previous project, and I embellished it with a doily, some die cut ephemera phrases from the Empowered Die Cut Ephemera Pack, as well as a journaling card from the Reflections Paper Collection.
When you're working with the clear paper, what brings interest to your project is being able to layer images on top of each other so that there are parts of the pages beneath that show through the clear paper along with elements that are temporarily covered as you'll see later.
***Please note: These clear papers are high quality and thicker than most acetate. I used a heavy duty punch from Arc to punch these pages since the Happy Planner punch WILL NOT punch through the clear paper layered with cardstock. If you try punching them with the Happy Planner punch, it WILL break! Ask me how I know that for a fact! {sigh...I need a replacement punch soon!}
Here's a view of the page as it's lifted away from the page that it was resting on previously:
The elements on the clear paper look as if they're floating because of the transparent nature of the clear paper. Isn't that neat to see?
When this page is turned, you can now see what's on the back of the clear paper:
I adhered another doily to this side in order to cover the adhesive that would otherwise be seen through the clear paper without it. I did the same with the journaling card. I created a flower with two of the the Clematis dies that is layered on top of a fussy cut flower from one of the Reflections floral papers. Then I added a crystal gem from the Save the Date gem set in the middle of the clematis flower to finish it. The final embellishment for this side of the clear page is the white trim I added from my stash.
Here's a tip I wanted to share for using a scrap of clear paper to make it simple to adhere a piece of trim to your project:
1. Cut a strip of clear paper about the same width and length of the trim and add a strip of double-sided adhesive (like Scor-Tape) to the clear paper.
2. Adhere the trim to the clear paper and cut away any extra clear paper that may be showing between the scallops of the trim.
3. Adhere the trim to your project with more double-sided adhesive.
I do this with the clear paper strip in order to provide more stability to the trim and so that I don't have to make a mess with liquid adhesive getting all over the glossy paper of the journaling card.
Now that the first clear page is resting on the left side of the planner, this is the page we see:
Did you notice that the bottom border made with some washi tape and square "Happy Life" phrase was showing through earlier? Now we get to see it along with the other elements on this page!
The heart journaling card is from the Reflections Paper Collection and the strip of heart washi tape is from a set that Teresa designed in collaboration with Irene from Simply Gilded. You can also see a few elements on the bottom page through the stripes of this printed clear paper.
Here's what the page looks like lifted up from the bottom page:
The only things I added to the back of this page are a couple of small pieces of doilies along the gold cardstock border of this page.
Now this is the final page that you only had a peek at earlier:
The journaling card and florals are from the Reflections Paper Collection, and the gold foiled mini bag tucked under the journaling card is from my stash. I also used some of the die cut florals along with two small phrases from the Floral Die Cut Ephemera Pack.
Thank you all for dropping by today! I hope you all enjoyed seeing what can be done with the clear paper, and that you're inspired to give it a try! Have a wonderful time creating with these products from Teresa Collins Studio!
Many blessings!
~ Christine
