ORGANIZE YOUR TOOLS & SUPPLIES- RACHEL TURKAL
Organize Your Tools & Supplies to Create a Space that Works for You! In this crazy time where we’re spending more and more time at home and having a functional space to work and to create has become a necessity. No longer can we simply work from the couch or create at the kitchen/dining table. We need a space to call our own. This post is the beginning of my personal journey in creating a space that works for me. My space IS messy, disorganized, and cluttered. I currently do NOT have a pristine space (nor will I ever, most likely). What I am striving for is a functional space. I often get caught up in the pictures of organizational perfection that are shared across print and social media. We somehow think these amazing pictures are what we need to strive for and forget to focus on what actually works for us; finding a way to better utilize the tools and supplies we already have. I am sharing my REAL journey to a space that works for me. This will NOT happen overnight and most likely will be a years long endeavor. Don’t forget that when organizing your space that it all doesn't happen in one fell swoop; it takes time. Give yourself grace and enjoy the journey. One area that, I think, that is often overlooked is wall space. I need a place to organize and store my most used tools and supplies. We get distracted by dramatic before and after pictures and often forget the journey it took to get there. Much like our life is a journey and personal evolutionary process so is creating the space we live in. Thank you for joining me on my journey! Here we go. when in doubt start small. I’m only tackling this wall and not the rest of the room. This is the space that is in desperate need of transformation: As you can see it’s a hot mess, and I have a lot of unused wall space. I want to utilize this vertical space to its fullest potential. Keep these questions in mind when designing or thinking about your space’s layout: * What are the items that I reach/use for most? * Is this practical? * Am I being honest with myself about X or do I just want it for the sake of FOMO (fear of missing out)? I researched and looked for inspiration everywhere and what most spoke to me was this system of wall organization called Wall Control, which is used mainly in workshops and can be found at big box home improvement stores. Here are the wall panels that I have chosen to install: Tech specs: These panels are 16” wide, which means that if you have 16” on-center studs, your panels will mount perfectly and be very securely to your wall. The provided screws were drilled directly into the studs and no wall anchors were needed. Additionally the panels are a wall-scaling 48” tall; shorter panels are available starting at 16” tall. Now you don’t have to use these wall panels. You could use removable wallpaper or vinyl to define your space and use nails to hang told and supplies. Alternatively you could mount a larger picture frame (maybe from a thrift shop) directly on the wall with removable velcro strips and hang supplies inside it with any variety of hooks. There are many different pegboard systems out there, so find the one that works for you physically and is within your price range. I need a place to organize my paper punches, stamps (the most frequently used & hard to store), and Xyron Creative Stations. I definitely use paper towels when creating so having a reachable place that works for me is essential. I’m beginning to add my small collection of Crop-a-diles to my wall organization, and eventually I’ll have all of them hung. I haven’t decided where works best, and that’s the beauty of this pegboard system, and any modular system really, is that it grows and changes with you as your needs change. Give yourself permission to change your space; give yourself permission to embrace the imperfection in the journey or organizing. I think we can all attest to the fact that organization is a journey. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will the organization of my crafting space be. Easy access to my Teresa Collins washi is also important, as well as Teresa Collins’ Essentials. (For the Essentials tubes I simply screwed hooks into the top of the cork stopper. I found the hooks in a picture hanging kit. Use what you have!) To crown this space I can think of nothing more apropos, since I’m a Leo, than this lovely Lion from one of Teresa’s most recent digital file releases. Paired with an edited Sun Medallion, this matte gold medallion in removable vinyl is perfection and caps off the industrial chic aesthetic I’m striving for. Of course I needed to add some of that oh-so-inspiring Art Prints with Teresa’s empowerment quotes to finish everything off! One small slice of my room done, for now, and many more to come! My space is not complete and neither is my creative journey. As Teresa says, “Progress Over Perfection.” Thank you so much for reading! BOO! I’m all ready for October. I created this BOO-tiful dashboard to welcome all the spooky fun. Want to create your own? Here are the details- I started by using some digital cut files from Teresa Collins Studio. I then picked out a couple colors/patterned papers I wanted to use. I always cut a few extra’s so I have options, allow for mistakes or use them for additional decor. Next, I laid out the design to my liking and glued it all together. Finally, I used some adhesive to place it on a half sheet of vellum so I can punch and add it to my planner (acetate sheets would work well, also). As a bonus, I added some of my extra cuts and a little humor to the other page by using some Sassy Stickers. I love to think outside the box and be creative. Learn moreBOOK OF ME - CARYN KIDWELL
Hi all- I am Caryn Kidwell. I am super excited to share my first Design Team creation for the Teresa Collins Studio blog. Everything I used to create this layout is all Teresa Collins Studio except for the Cardstock. I decided to create a layout for my 2020 Book of Me album. Over the years, I was always just behind the camera. This year I decided to document ME! When I prepare to create a layout, I select a photo first, then find coordinating embellishments & paper that I want to use. I always glue down items while creating. However, for this layout I decided I would try a different approach than I normally do. I chose all of Teresa Collins embellishments, patterned papers and ephemera that were speaking to me first. Of course, that was very hard to choose from as all of the Teresa Collins products are Amazing! I selected the Nine & Co items from the Last Chance fan favorite section of the Teresa Collins Studio. I was so excited when I saw them there that I had to purchase the Tags, File Folders and Ephemera. I really enjoy working with the Teresa Collins Cut Files. It is great that you can either use your die cut machine (Silhouette) or an X-Acto knife to cut the images. The Teresa Collins Mega Tape Runner is my “go to” adhesive for all my crafty projects. The Summer Collection is also located in the Last Chance fan favorite section of the Teresa Collins Studio. I was shocked about how many of the stickers, embellishments and patterned papers were included in the package. I love the mix of colorful flowers to include black and white ephemera. I selected 4 tags from the Nine & Co. Collection that I would alter for my layout. I altered each tag with Teresa Collins Studio stickers, ephemera, cut files & washi. Seeing words like Goals/Vision/Plan it/Dream Big & I Am enough made it easy to select a photo. I love adding dimensions to these tags using pop dots. Especially the butterflies that appear as if they are flying. Note: You can also use these tags and create a mini album as well. I decided that instead of using the entire Nine & Co file folder; I would just cut it in half. I selected a photo of myself (if you look closely you will see the Teresa Collins “Shine” necklace that I received in my Empowerment Box. Her jewelry line is AMAZING!), added stars with dimension as well as a motivational sticker. You will notice that I will mat stickers to add more focus on them. I dusted off my typewriter and used it to type my journaling instead of using my handwriting. Adding stickers to the journaling are perfect to hide crafty mistakes. This was really a lot of fun to create using a different creative process. It will be perfect to add to my 2020 Book of Me album. Hope you have enjoyed my 1st Design Team Project. Hi Friends! So excited to share with you this Butterfly Mini Album I created using ‘Butterflies’ cutting file from Teresa’s website :) I used the BOLD - Live your bold life Collection for this project. I love the powder blue with the black, white and gold. This album has 5 pages and was so easy to create! I cut out one of the butterflies with details to create the cover then used the “offset” option in the silhouette software to create the base of the album. For the spine I used the papers from the collection. Teresa’s papers are ver thick and sturdy and perfect to make the spine! I used a 4 x 2 piece of paper and scored every 1/2 inch and folded it like an accordion I hope you enjoyed this very first project of mine using the BOLD - Live Your Bold Life Collection! -Jerodelle BOLD LIFE COLLECTION - https://www.teresacollinsstudio.com/collections/bold-life BUTTERFLY CUT FILE - https://www.teresacollinsstudio.com/collections/animal-and-insect-cut-files/products/butterflies

I haven’t done any scrapbook pages in a very long time. The last time I did was before my son passed away in 2017. I have done lots of other projects but I found this picture of my nephew when he was little (I think he is around 11 or 12 yo) and I felt inspired to create a simple scrapbook page. I used this blueish/grey paper from the TC Bright side collection and a few random pieces of ephemera, gold washi and the limited edition is a TC cut file. I cut the TC gratitude words paper to 7 x 12 and cut the dark grey cardstock to 7.5 x 12 to layer under it. I cut the picture to fit the paper, slightly off center. I then added it to the 12 x 12 patterned paper about 2.75” from the top. I added the You are important card with gold washi and added a few stars-one is a diecut and the other 2 are from past free TC downloads. Here is a close up of the TC limited edition word cut file. I cut it out of black vinyl using my Silhouette and transferred it to the page. I think my diecut machine is my most used tool for paper crafting. Learn moreA BOLD LIFE GIFT - CLAUDETTE CLEMENTS
I’m Claudette Clements and I’m excited to share a few projects I created using Teresa Collins Studio’s CLEAR ACETATE PAPER and BOLD LIFE paper collection. Since we are between holidays, I thought I’d create a few projects using a line that’s perfect for every day. The bold contrast of colors and patterns in the BOLD LIFE allowed me to create a few unique things to help me celebrate my friend’s birthday. She loves blue and animal print, so I knew I was on the right track here. I decided to do a product review of the collection first so you can see just how wonderful it is. This video showcases the paper and a few of the add-on items for BOLD LIFE. Project #1 – Clear Acetate Gift Bag I needed a little gift bag for a small item I wanted to give my friend. Teresa Collins CLEAR ACETATE PAPER was the perfect base to start this project. I knew I wanted to use stamped tissue, so the clear bag was perfect to show it off. I started by using a punch board to create the base of the bag. Although I couldn’t punch through the clear acetate paper (it’s a wonderful, thick paper), the punch board marked the areas I needed to trim out with my scissors. The clear acetate paper scores nicely, so I was quickly on my way to creating a gift bag. Once the bag was cut and scored, I used red line tape to seal the bag in the back and on the bottom. Next, I create a bag rim using a piece of the BRIGHT SIDE paper. I scored the paper to align with the sides of the clear acetate paper for a more finished look. Next, I added a strip of the gold washi along the top edge – love that part. I finished the bag by punching holes on both sides of the bag and adding gold cording for handles. The cute little bag needed a tag, so I found the perfect expression from the DIE CUT EPHEMERA PACK. I mounted it on a scrap of matching paper and punched a hole so I could hang it from the handles. To create matching tissue, I used the flower stamps from the BEAUTIFUL stamp set and created a collage using basic black ink. I used a light hand to make sure I didn’t over stamp the images. I used Teresa Collins ColorBox pigment ink in Gold Shine and black hybrid ink - it didn’t run or smear. I love how it turned out. Project #2 – Clear Acetate Card and matching envelope I love to make cards, so this started with an A2 size (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) card base cut from the CLEAR ACETATE PAPER. On the front, I layered a piece of the BOLD LEPARD paper with a narrow strip of the blue side of the paper and some gold washi tape. I finished the front by matting the FIND YOUR FIRE sticker on a small scrap of the BOLD LEPARD paper and mounted it using sheet foam. I prefer to use sheet foam (found in the children’s isle in the craft store) over strips of foam because it creates a solid base for what I’m mounting on it. Strip foam tends to buckle in places where there’s no foam. On the inside of the card, I added another piece of BOLD LEOPARD paper behind the paper I used on the front cover – this hides all the adhesive. I used another sticker of the same size and shape to cover the back of the sticker I used on the front. A third piece of BOLD LEOPARD paper was placed on the inside back to allow a place for message. I added the sentiment strip cut from the 12x12 paper to add more character. To finish the card, I added a piece of the BOLD COLLAGE paper to the back of the clear card. To make the matching envelope, I added a piece of the BOLD LEOPARD paper to the flap area and finished with a couple strips of washi tape. Project #3 – Home Décor Frames I wanted to make one more thing for my friend’s birthday gift, so I decided to create something beautiful for her office. The BOLD LIFE paper collection was so versatile, I was able to create a completely different project quickly and easily using these beautiful papers and die cut ephemera. I started by cutting three different sheets of background paper. I selected BOLD COLLAGE, BOLD LEOPARD, and BOLD BOWS. I cut them to fit inside the 5” x 7” frame. Next, I fussy cut flowers from the BRIGHT SIDE paper and added a die cut ephemera sentiment strip from the DIE CUT pack. Because each of the sentiment strips matched, it created a cohesive look to the trio of frames. To finish off each frame, I added gold washi to the inside border of each frame. I think this part of her gift will be her favorite. Hi everybody! Emilie Chamel here with a layout created for Teresa Collins Studio. I loved the super striking black and white dot paper from the Azure Paperie Collection and decided I wanted to use it as my main background for my layout. With such a bold and busy background I new I would need to really anchor my photograph to my layout and get it to stand out so I chose another bold paper by tearing a band of the mustard paper from the Bright Side Collection which I can’t get enough of. I decided to turn my photograph black and white as it would stand-out against the colours I wanted to use but also as then my bold background would work with it rather than against it by being of the same colour. What brought the layout to life was a lot of layering and fussy cutting. I layered torn rectangles of black and marble paper from the Floral Market Collection with strips of wash tape from the Bright side collection and added details with fussy cut flowers from Bright Side and words accent that I cut-out of Azure Paperie Collection. I am so in love with this layout which is totally me yet very classy and elegant.
