KISS MAGIC FLIP BOOK ALBUM - TARRAH MCLEAN
Hi everyone! It’s Tarrah McLean with you today and I am SOOOOO excited to be officially sharing my first project with you here on the Teresa Collins blog! I have wanted to create a mini album for ages documenting a super fun night in 2019 when myself and 3 of my crafty friends decided to dress up as the band ‘Kiss’ for a Glam Rock themed dress up night at a craft retreat we attended. I took one of Teresa’s awesome Signature Essentials small white flip books that I have had in my stash FOREVER and transformed it into a mini album showcasing and celebrating a fun and memorable night. I wanted to keep the album mostly black and white however adding some silver and gold glitter here and there brought some sparkle to the album! I gathered the black and white papers from the Bold Life Collection and decided on the ‘Quotes’ paper (star side) for the front and back covers of the album. I cut out the Kiss title from black cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo using a font similar to their logo. I added pop dots under the title and fussy cut the word ‘Magic’ out from the Collage paper, adhering it flat under the ‘Kiss’ word. I punched out some silver glitter stars with Teresa’s star punch and added some gold star sequins to the centres of these. I also added one of the black and white star sticker journal labels from the Studio Gold Journaling Labels above the title, a chipboard piece layered on top of the title, this one says ‘The Story’, this piece is from the Wanderlust chipboard button set. I also added a phrase sticker that says, ‘Yes & Yes’ from the Hustle stickers. Lastly for the front cover, I tied some black soft ribbon around the spine. I LOVE how the front cover turned out! When you open the inside of the flip book album up, it is much easier to work from the back towards the front. To make the flip feature easy, I punched out 2 tabs from black cardstock and stapled them back to back to use to pull and flip the inside pages. Each inside page back to front features a photo from the night, Hustle and Go For It stickers, Bold Life die-cuts, Be You and Bold Life washi tapes, fussy cut words from the Collage paper and punched out stars from glitter cardstock. I chose words and phrases from the products I used that suited the theme night like 'Bold', 100%, Fun, Think Happy, Magic, VIP and Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It (because we sure did lol)! I love how Teresa's products tell the story without being over the top on a project. I love the simplicity and the clean lines. You can add your photos, some journalling and a few key embellishments like stickers and die-cuts and you have created yourself a keepsake memento that you can look back on for years to come and you can relive the moments too! The very centre double pages, I have stamped the left side page with the Bold Life Beautiful and Never Give Up stamp sets using black ink, I stamped both vertically and horizontally to mix things up. I also added a gold glitter star and layered a metal star over the top in the very centre. The right page I added a black and white striped glassine bag/pocket and included some journaling on a pull out white tag. I love classic black and white, it goes with everything! It co-ordinates with everything too so it makes it easier to create a uniform project! All together I added a total of 5 photos to my album so it left me with spaces to add fun stuff. You could absolutely add more photos, more journalling, more pockets for interaction, the possibilities are endless! I included washi tape on just about every page in the album, I absolutely adore Teresa's washi tape! I especially LOVE the thin ones, aren't they the cutest?! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I had so much fun creating this fun flip book album and reliving the night we had. I hope you enjoyed reading about my project as much as I enjoyed creating it. Learn moreHAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEKLY SPREAD - MERCEDES DOS SANTOS
Hi everyone, I am Mercedes Dos Santos one of the Planners on the Teresa Collins (TC) Design Team! I am super excited to share with you my planner spread for the week of September 28 - October 4. This week is kind of special to me because it is my birthday week (Yay me!) and because I have so much to celebrate and be thankful for this year. For this spread, I am using the TC Floral Die Cut Ephemera. I absolutely love this collection, not only because it is pink, but also because it is just gorgeous and filled with lots of empowering quotes. I am also using several of the Teresa Collins sticker sets and washi tape to complete this spread. One of my favorite things about decorating my planner is that it gives me the opportunity to express my creativity in so many different ways. I like to start with the side bar and I usually decorate it with inspirational quotes. Teresa’s collection has a TON of inspirational stickers that fit perfectly in the side column. I used a few of the floral ephemera to adorn the top and bottom of the page. Another fun thing I did in this spread was to layer different Teresa Collins washi tapes, one is the thin sparkly gold and the other is actually a sticker washi strip that I cut in half and layered one on top of the other. On the other side of the spread, I also layered the two washi tapes and added more die cuts along with several cute stickers from Teresa’s Hello sticker set. My favorite part of this whole spread is the cute girl holding the balloons. I used the TC Planner Girl stamp set and I punched out several heart shapes from the TC Reflections Paper Collection to represent balloons then drew in the strings. Putting this spread together was so much fun! I really enjoyed making it and just looking at fills me with joy. It truly makes me want to celebrate and give thanks for all the wonderful things in life! And last but not least, what better way to celebrate than to add these TC Party Fans as a backdrop to my spread. They are so festive! Thank you all for sticking with me until the end. Learn moreALTERED EMBROIDERY HOOP - NATASHA POLITE
Hi crafty friends! It's Natasha Polite here sharing an altered embroidery hoop that will serve as room decor for my daughter. I used Mon Cheri paper for this project since the color palette fits her room perfectly. I used a 7 inch embroidery hoop and backed it with a solid blush piece from the Mon Cheri Collection. I then used the gold leopard print washi included in the Love washi set to cover the front edges of the hoop. Black ribbon was then used to line the sides and hide any tape overhang. I adhered that with my Teresa Collins Mega Runner. From there, I began playing around with more of the washi, fussy cut floral images from the paper, and Teresa Collins stickers. I layered all of these elements until I found balance around my image, adding dimension with pop dots when needed. The left edge of the hoop is a collage with mostly fussy cut florals. A few elements were colored with alcohol markers to add more interest and texture. I covered a heart die cut with the gold leopard washi and added it into the floral collage to break up all of the white in the florals. From there I decided more gold was needed and added in a small foiled starburst sticker using a pop dot. The final touches included adding a few glimmer drops and a gold bow at the top. I hope you enjoyed my project as much as I enjoyed making it! Learn morePOSITIVE REMINDERS - PASCHA SHEPARD
Positive reminders are why I love using Teresa’s products. They’re beautiful with an equally beautiful aesthetic. It’s important to me to have positive reminders in my planner and I love making dashboards for my planner. While this is simple, the message is strong and I love it. To complete this dashboard I used pieces from the Positivity and Floral Die Cut Ephemera packs, the leopard washi is from the Love Washi Tape collection. Remember to stay strong, stay focused and remember to pace yourself (progress not perfection). Learn moreSPOOKTACULAR HUTCH - SHILO JOHNSON
Hi All, Shilo Johnson here and I am so excited for this first blog post with you all!! What perfect timing to share a Spooktacular project. My very good friends birthday is on Halloween and I wanted to make her a gift since its also her favorite holiday. To show how versatile Teresa’s products are, I decided to use some of her everyday collections on this project. I gathered the black and white pages from the Reflections Paper Collection and the Stationery Studio Paper Collection. To keep myself from being overwhelmed, I focused on each compartment one at time, thinking of them as individual pieces. The first one I did was the potion bottles. I LOVE the back wall in this compartment. I used Teresa’s gorgeous Wanderlust sequins and layered them in the back. It makes it super reflective and catches the orange light that I added. I used some common items for the base of my potion bottles. The clear bottle was a mini syrup bottle from a takeout we got during quarantine. For the spider venom potion I used Teresa’s molding paste and Spiders cut file to add some texture and dimension to this bottle A little black paint, a little gold glitter and this guy was ready for a label. I did not adhere the potion bottles to the hutch, so my friend can remove them and display separately if she wants. Next up was the witches hat compartment. I used some of the beautiful flower cut files. I love how the shine on the paper gives the flowers so much depth. To give the hat even more dimension I used the Halloween Cupcake Wrapper to decorate the brim of the hat. Now we come to the fun part! I named this guy Skully. Skully started out really beige and flat. So I painted him white and rubbed in some gold glitter to brighten him up. Skully looked lonely and needed a friend. Luckily I found plenty of friends for Skully in the Halloween Creatures cut file. Skully is also removable. Leaving all of these pieces unattached makes it so the pieces can be moved around or used separately. The Skully compartment has the owl from Halloween Creatures cut file as a photo. The rug in this compartment is Teresa’s washi tape rolled up. To give the eye a moment to rest, I made the next compartment simpler. I used the Trick or Treat cut file. By creating a false back, it made the compartment feel less empty. As soon as I saw the Halloween and Pumpkin banner die cuts, I knew I had to use them! I like how they filled in the bottom. Behind the banners is the witch compartment - I call her Broomhilda. She is one of the Halloween Icons die cuts. The last compartment is more of the flower cut files. To finish off the hutch I added some bats from the Halloween Creatures cut file. I had so much fun making this hutch and can’t wait to give it to my friend. Thanks for checking out my project. Learn moreDesign Team Highlight - Lara, Claudette, Tracey and Shilo
We are thrilled to highlight the last four of the TC DESIGN TEAM members. Please get to know them and follow them here as well as their own accounts. Lara Scott My name is Lara Scott and I don’t think I remember a time in my life when I wasn’t creating something. I chose fine art/graphic design as my major in college after years of art classes all throughout my life. I still love most crafts but always found myself drawing, painting and making things out of paper. I have been a freelance designer and have designed for several companies in the scrapbook/papercraft industry for over 12 years and have been published several times. I was born in Honolulu,Hawaii; the oldest of 7 children in a large Asian/American family-hence the Hapa Girl. Hapa is Hawaiian for half and generally refers to those who are half Japanese. My husband and I recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest and I am learning to navigate a new city.I believe that we are all stronger than we think we are and that your story matters. If you don’t tell it, who will? Claudette Clements I’m Claudette Clements, the mother of three children (including a set of twins), apassionate paper crafter, and an avid admirer of all things Teresa Collins. I’m sohonored to be part of her design team this year and look forward to creating manybeautiful things with her product lines. Being able to create, whatever form it takes, is like air to me. Without it, I just don't feel alive. I love to make many things, from simple cards, to quick tags, beautifully wrapped and presented gifts, or an even an elaborate mini book. I love paper. I love paint. I love tools. I love all things that sparkle. If you can make something with it, I love it. Some days, I want to work on a clean, modern design, and other times I want to work for weeks on an intricate baby book I plan to give as a gift. I’m not locked into one type of project or one style, but I will say that I love “bells and whistles.” I like to take things to the next level by adding just a little something. I can’t even say what that something really is, I just know it when I see it. My website is www.TheyCallMeMartha.com - I hope you find a bit of inspiration in my creativity and make it your own. Tracey Shenton Hi my name is Tracey. I live in the gorgeous Hunter Valley, Australia. I have 3 wonderful boys (Joe, Will & Charlie) and a fantastic husband (Phil). I have my own accounting practice.
